December's Best & Worst Beauty Products

As December comes to a close, I wanted to review some of my favorite and least favorite beauty products that I've tried this month.

Since my blog is still so new and I'm not getting paid for any sponsorships, I think it works to my advantage because I can be completely honest and open with all of you. If I hate something, I'll warn you. If I love something, I'll always share it with you!

So, as you can probably tell by now, I love trying out new products. There are a few key pieces in my beauty regimen that I'll never replace (hello, Rodan + Fields Dual Intensive Acne Treatment). However, I'm always willing to try a new face mask, under eye cream, exfoliator, or anything else of the sort.

So, after all of the products I've tested this month, here is December's list of total hits and major misses.

BEST:

I know you guys have seen me mention this product a bunch of times before so I'll keep it short and sweet. This cooling, hydrating mask stays on overnight so you can wake up with soft, supple, moisturized skin. Yes, please.

If there was one product that I want everyone to have, it's these vitamins. Every year right before Christmas, like clockwork, I get sick. The typical sore throat, congested, achy winter cold that we all know and hate. This is the first year ever in my life that I haven't gotten sick and I owe it all to these little vegetarian mushroom capsules. These vitamins contain a certified organic blend of 17 different types of mushrooms that strengthen your immune system and allow it to fight off sickness. If you're trying to stay healthy throughout the Winter, these are essential.

I'm always looking for a light, creamy concealer that won't crack or look caked on after a few hours. I started using this about two weeks ago and am in love. The concealer is so smooth and light and does an amazing job of covering up under eye circles.

This is my new everyday beauty essential. Previously, I was wearing foundation everyday but it just felt unnecessary and too heavy. So, I switched to the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer and I love it. It smells more like a moisturizer than foundation and feels so light on your skin, so it really doesn't even feel life you're wearing makeup. It's also buildable so you can layer it on depending on how heavy you'd like the coverage to be.

Disclaimer: This is perfect for anyone looking to even out their skin tone and cover any dark spots. However, if you're trying to cover up acne or pimples it's probably not heavy enough.

I can't get enough of this 2-in-1 lipstick and lip balm. Everyone needs this in their beauty arsenal. Buy it now, thank me later.

These are my new favorite make-up removing wipes and I don't see myself switching to something else anytime soon. They're SO soft and gentle on my skin and smell amazing. You'll look forward to using them every night.

I am a self-proclaimed lip-balm addict and am always looking for lip products that actually work. This one does. I use this watermelon scented lip mask every night before going to bed and it leaves my lips softer, plumper, and more hydrated.

WORST:

I wanted to love this product so badly and it makes me sad that it has ended up on my "Worst" list. When the weather gets colder, I start layering and wearing heavier clothes, neglecting to give my skin room to breathe. So every year I have to deal with sporadic breakouts and pimples on my back. While this product smells amazing and is very gentle and moisturizing, it's done absolutely nothing for my acne. If you're looking for a new, soothing body wash to mix into your shower routine you may love this. If you're trying to clear up blemishes, I wouldn't recommend this at all.

When I first received this in a FabFitFun box I was so excited to try it because I am admittedly obsessed with having white teeth. However, after using it a few times my gums started to bleed, painful mouth sores developed, and my teeth and gums felt so sensitive. My teeth did look whiter but it wasn't worth all of the discomfort and bleeding. My boyfriend tried it as well and had the same experience as me. His gums bled and became sore. I would not recommend using activated charcoal to whiten your teeth. Instead, I use Crest Whitening Strips twice a week and find them to work perfectly.

I love Trestique's lip products but this one was a flop for me. The nude colored lip balm looked white against my skin and was just not a flattering shade. My sister is fair skinned and loves this balm, so if you're a medium/tan skin tone I wouldn't recommend this shade for you, but if you have a paler skin tone you could love this.

I switched to the Sephora Rose Wipes because these were very rough on my skin. Several of you have reached out to me saying you believe Neutrogena changed the formula because these wipes have started irritating your skin, making it tingle and burn. Using a rough facial wipe is the worst thing you could do for your skin. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone because of their harsh, rough feel.

That's a wrap for my December favorite and least favorite beauty products! If you guys like this post I will make it a monthly tradition! Have you tried any of these products? Do you agree or disagree with my reviews?

Also, today is officially the last day of 2017! I hope you all had an amazing year and are looking forward to an even better 2018. Check out my article on Setting New Year's Resolutions That Are Actually Productive.

Wishing you a fun and safe NYE!

Cheers,
