Beauty emergencies have the power to ruin your day in an instant. A broken heel and no extra shoes? A fresh stain on your outfit and no stain remover wipes? Fortunately, there are a few beauty hacks that I swear by, for when you need some help in a pinch. As always, I'm giving away my best kept secrets, so your lives can be just a little bit easier.
1. Use Visine on Pimples
Applying Visine to red, prominent pimples may sound a little bizarre, but if you think about the way Visine works it actually makes sense. Eye drops are meant to take the redness out of your eyes, so applying some to a stubborn pimple will work the same way. The pimple won’t disappear altogether, but the redness will decrease.
2. Store Makeup Wipes Upside Down
If you feel like your packages of makeup wipes dry out in an instant, you could be storing them incorrectly. Keep the package upside down so the moisture will move forward and keep them wet, instead of falling to the back of the package and leaving the wipes dry.
3. Chapstick as Eyebrow Gel
If you’re in a rush and can’t find your favorite eyebrow gel, or just want a DIY hack, slide chapstick over your brows after brushing them out. It will keep the hair together and prevent it from moving around. You can use any chapstick, but I like Palmer’s Coco Butter chapstick best.
4. Use Your Ring Finger to Apply Under Eye Cream
The under eye area is very thin and sensitive, so to prevent wrinkling it’s important to apply under eye cream correctly. Use your ring finger, which is the gentlest finger, and bounce it up and down over the cream, pressing it into your skin. Avoid rubbing in circles or treating your eye area too harshly.
5. Vaseline as Moisturizer
If you have dry spots on your face, neck, or even very chapped lips, Vaseline is your new best friend. It’s a cheap product that most people have in their homes already and, in my opinion, it goes under the radar. Apply Vaseline to a dry spot before bed and leave it overnight. The next day it will be gone. Vaseline is the ultimate moisturizer, and while I definitely don’t recommend rubbing it all over your face, it works wonders for targeted patches of dry skin.
